7-day trip for Bird watching and photography – endemics and specialties in Vietnam
Itinerary
This program will be only 7 days – shorter by 1 day, more comfortable for old people, like bird-photography, a total trip over 160 bird species will be seen.
Day 1: Da Lat City – Bidoup Nui Ba NP
Target: Morning: Grey-crowned Crocias, Dalat Shrike-Babbler; also: Fire-breasted Flowerpecker, Flavescent Bulbul, Vietnamese Greenfinch, Swinhoe’s White-eye, Asian Fairy Bluebird, Langbian Tit, Indochinese Barbet, Plain Minla, Chestnut-vented Nuthatch, Annam Sunbird, Langbian Sunbird…
Noon: Red Crossbill, Slender-billed Oriole, Annam Minivet.
Afternoon: Trail for Necklaced Barbet.
Detail: Morning: Please let me know your landing time at Da Lat Airport. Then we visit three bird spots around Da Lat City.
Lunch, then transport to Bidoup Nui Ba NP. Around noon, visit the park centre headquarters and the hide for Crossbill.

Target: Bird-hide targets: Collared Laughingthrush, Black-crowned Fulvetta, Black-hooded Laughingthrush, White-cheeked Laughingthrush, Indochinese Green Magpie, Large Niltava, White-tailed Robin, Mountain Fulvetta, Black-headed Sibia…
Lunch and another hide for: Spotted Forktail, Slaty-backed Forktail, Grey-bellied Tesia, Pygmy Wren-Babbler, Chestnut-crowned Babbler, White-browed Scimitar-Babbler, Silver-eared Mesia, Rusty-naped Pitta…
Trails: Plumbeous Water Redstart, Manipur Treecreeper, Red-headed Trogon.
Detail: Morning 5:30 am: Leave the hotel and visit the trail, then three hides in Bidoup Nui Ba NP for a full day of birding.
Return to Da Lat City hotel at 7:00 pm.

Target: Early morning spots for: Dalat Bush Warbler, Grey Bushchat, Rubythroat…
From 8:30 am, Vietnamese Cutia spots.
Check out around 11:00 am, then travel to Di Linh Town.
Late afternoon: Birds in Di Linh include Indochinese Green Magpie, Blue Pitta, Orange-necked Partridge, Puff-throated Bulbul, Blue Whistling Thrush…
Detail: Morning 5:30 am – 11:30 am at Da Lat and Bidoup Nui Ba NP.
2:00 pm: Di Linh bird-hide.

Day 4: Di Linh – Cat Tien NP
Target: Morning: Breakfast, then visit the hide and forest in Di Linh. More targets: Blue Pitta, Indochinese Green Magpie, Red-vented Barbet…
1:00 pm: Transport to Cat Tien NP.
4:00 pm: Birding around the hotel in Cat Tien NP for tailorbird, barbets, sunbirds, ioras, hornbills.
Detail: 6:00 am – 11:00 am: Native birds around the hotel in Di Linh.
Arrive at Cat Tien NP hotel around 4:00 pm, birding around the hotel.
Night: Owl spotlighting.

Photography at the hide: Bar-bellied Pitta, Blue-rumped Pitta, then trail for Orange-breasted Trogon, Indochinese Cuckooshrike, Blue-winged Leafbird, Purple-naped Sunbird…
Detail: Morning 6:00 am: Use safari car to grasslands, then hide for Pitta. Afterwards, enjoy watching Yellow-cheeked Gibbons and full-day birding in Cat Tien NP.

Day 7: Dong Nai Nature Reserve – Ho Chi Minh City
Target: Two bird-hides: Siamese Fireback, Banded Kingfisher, Silver-breasted Broadbill, Banded Broadbill, Laced Woodpecker, Common Flameback…
Also: four species of babblers, two species of sunbirds, drongos (White-faced, Ashy, Greater Racket-tailed), Racket-tailed Treepie, Blue-winged Leafbird…
Detail: 5:00 am: Check out from Cat Tien, then transport to Dong Nai NR bird-hide (about 2 hours).
3:00 pm: Transport back to Ho Chi Minh City.
City landmark visit (optional) and dinner.
7:00 pm: Ho Chi Minh City Airport.
